The Safety/Security Officer is responsible for performing patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property. This includes:

  • Operating passenger vehicles for security patrol and transport students.
  • Assist in reception functions and maintaining the visitor control area.
  • Monitor and direct field sobriety test and breathalyzers for students, as needed.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices and OSHA standards.
  • Cultivate and maintain center environment; which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Assist with conducting center safety inspections, fire drills, and fire alarm tests.


Mandatory Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Pass pre-employment drug test or background check.
  • Obtain DPSST certification within 10 days of hire. (potential to acquire training on the job)
  • Obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of hire. (potential to acquire training on the job)

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
